Try Kindness is a school’s solution to promoting positive student behavior. Students today need support and practice in developing good character. They need help in developing appreciation, honesty, respect, and a caring attitude. This book addresses these issues.

Try Kindness consists of 37 lessons that teachers, counselors, and social workers can use to develop and promote kind actions in their students. Each lesson has a defined purpose and includes a materials list, a step-by-step lesson plan, and reproducible activity sheets and gameboards where needed. The book is divided into three parts:

Section One: Recognizing and Practicing Kind Behaviors includes lessons on listening well, giving compliments, appreciating others, sharing, forgiveness, and fairness.

Section Two: Dealing With Difficulties includes lessons on unfair blaming, ending putdowns, bossiness, dealing with bullies, and dealing with conflict.

Section Three/Appendices: Provide additional ideas for promoting kindness, such as the Kindness Calendar, classroom projects, and family activities.

By teaching, modeling, and encouraging the kind actions in this book, educators can help student develop kind habits.
