Schools have rules and some kids break these rules. This new game stresses five rules, applicable to any school situation. As players move around the colorful gameboard, they are reminded of the importance of following rules and the consequences that occur when the rules are not followed. The school rules are that students will:
Come to school prepared for learning activities
Follow directions
Maintain safe behaviors
Use appropriate language and good manners
Treat individuals with respect
As the game is played, players have opportunities to earn stars for questions answered correctly, role-playing certain behaviors or explaining why the action taken was an acceptable or unacceptable school behavior. Stars can alsbe earned for correctly identifying a broken rule. Stars and turns are lost when players land on spaces that are bad luck. The winner is the player who accumulates the most stars.
School Rules can be used to help students understand the importance of guidelines and they can also learn why they choose certain behaviors, how others perceive them, and the consequences/benefits of certain behaviors.
Play this game with students whose inappropriate behaviors block their learning and their classmate's learning. An easy-to-use technique for a difficult-to-solve problem.
