It can be painful to be different and Mookey was different.
Mookey, the monkey, was born without a single hair on his body. Because his family thought he was beautiful he never felt out of place until he started school. That's when he found out about teasing. His classmates, stared, pointed, giggled, and called him Baldy.
Distraught, Mookey thought things would be different if he changed the way he looked on the outside. He tried all kind of things, but none worked. What he does learn is that when he was teased he needed to react differently. Luckily, he had animal friends who showed him what to do.
What Mookey learned can also help readers. The strategies Mookey learned that helped him cope will also help kids who need to learn how to react when they are teased or bullied.
