Luke is a boy who plots revengeful acts when he can not have his own way. His story is told by Bud, the alley cat, who observes his behavior at home and school. When Luke is not allowed to get a new bike, not allowed to have his choice of movie in the video store, and doesn't get to decide what project his group will do at school, his anger gets the best of him. To get back at the people who refused to give him what he wanted, Luke plots acts of revenge. His plots fail, and students learn that revengeful acts often backfire and the only person hurt is the revengeful person.
This story can be presented in four lessons or read at one time. Throughout the story, there are opportunities for student interaction through reproducible activity sheets.
