Relational Aggression (RA) is brutal, cruel, mean, and is running rampant in today’s schools. More and more frequently it rears its ugly head in younger and younger children. The I Hate Wendy Club was written for these younger children with the hope that if enough younger children realize what RA is and the damage it can do, they will avoid the trap that has caught older children for many years.

The I Hate Wendy Club approaches this important topic in a way that will appeal to young students. It includes a story, lessons, and supplementary activities that will capture the interest of young children and get the message across in a way that will not turn them off.

The program includes:

  • The I Hate Wendy Club story, a true story based on an incident from the author’s life. When two sisters decide not to include their younger sister, they learn the pain that exclusion can inflict. The book’s pages include brief, easy-to-read text and large illustrations the children may color if the story is reproduced.

  • 5 supplementary lessons that reinforce the story's message through art activities, welcoming new students, a math lesson that illustrates how each friend brings positive assets to a group, a decision-making activity where students take the role of judges, and an exclusion activity.

  • 28 reproducible supplementary activity pages that allow students to review the story's concepts and lessons in a variety of ways, including the influence immigrants have had on our nation, the harmfulness of gossip, comparing and contrasting, hidden pictures, prefixes, and secret messages.

  • Pre- and post-test for evaluative purposes

Educate your younger students now with the goal of eliminating this destructive behavior in our children.
