A selection of lessons intended to help upper elementary students deal successfully with their ever-changing world.
Part One contains 24 lessons covering six basic areas:
responsible behavior, honesty, doing one’s best, problem solving, social skills, and accepting others. These lessons provide students with opportunities to practice resilient actions which research has shown can be a counterbalance to high risk factors and are appropriate for either small-group counseling or classroom guidance. Leaders can select the topics they feel most appropriate for their students and provide them with one or more lessons.
Part Two provides individual student planning for a specific change or concern. These topics include change, Possibilities, Attitudes and Beliefs About Myself, and a Plan of Action.
Developing resiliency not only makes students more effective in school, but also leads to greater effectiveness outside school. These skills are a foundation that prepares them to be effective in their relationships both inside and out of school and in their future world of work.
In this world of continuous change youth needs to be able to cope and survive. Resiliency lessons will aid in this goal.
