A non-threatening curriculum that will enable small group participants to look at their behavior to see how the choices they make cause negative or positive consequences. The nine-session program includes:
Providing participants with a process for changing negative behaviors
Reinforcing positive choices participants are presently making
Helping participants change at the individual level in order to become critical thinkers
Reproducible student handout pages
The sessions are meant to be followed in the order written. The best results were found in grade levels six through twelve and with no more than eight members to a group. It will not succeed with students who are impaired with alcohol or drug abuse, mental and emotional illness, learning disabled, or who exhibit sociopathic tendencies. It has worked well with children of alcoholics, peer leaders, teen issue groups, conflict issue groups, and some special education groups.
