Children begin to think about future careers when they first hear the question, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” It is rare that they become what they answer but it is the beginning of career planning. Since one of school’s goals is to prepare students for the working world, it is also time for schools to begin career education. If touched upon each year, students from the earliest of grades will acquire information that will lead to a better understanding of jobs and their requirements as well as to whether or not the student is interested in the career being presented.
