Schools have been charged with helping children become aware of and understand the world of work, but with heavy curriculum demands, counselors and teachers have little time to focus on career development. This book makes it easy to integrate curriculum and career development.
Each of the 138 activities is designated to be used in one of eight elementary curriculum areas: language arts, mathematics, social studies, science, music and art, physical education and health, and computer skills. For example, in science a park ranger is introduced to students through an activity called Birds, Bees, Flowers, and Trees. Not only is it easy to justify both time on task and career awareness, students can now see the relationship between the subjects they study and careers in the future. Each activity has two levels of difficulty making it appropriate for the different age levels. Complete instructions for each lesson are included along with many reproducible activity sheets.
