This is your answer to a small-group anger management program for those students who need more than a 4 or 6 week program.
You know—those students whose names keep coming up year after year. This 10-week anger management program is designed to teach children in grades 3-6 about the three key areas of anger management—empathy, impulsivity, and locus of control. All this takes place in a group situation of 40-45 minutes for 4-6 members. Children learn to control their behavior through understanding, effective communication skills and relaxation techniques. Role play is incorporated throughout the program.
Anger management is crucial not only in the school environment, but outside of school as well. Therefore, parents are aware of what is taking place at each session through homework assignments that are given to the students and a weekly parental note which explains the concepts taught at the session just attended. This note should be signed and brought to the next session.
Also included is the No Temper Treasure Island Game which is be used with the program, but can also be used by itself. This is a complete board game that includes all of the parts necessary for play.
